Compassion in World Farming announces the winners for the Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards
London – Jun 25 Casearia di Sant’Anna announced that it was the only italian company honored at the Compassion in World Farming’s Good Dairy Animal Welfare Awards. The event celebrated the global momentum that market-leading food companies are generating with higher welfare policies and practices.
In 2020, 34 awards were presented to companies in the UK, EU, China and the US, which are set to benefit the lives of 28 million animals each year.
Casearia di Sant’Anna has been working hard to introduce their ‘OltreBio’ standard for their Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, which goes beyond basic organic requirements. They use milk from cows that are guaranteed pasture access, which is a rarity in Italy. As a result, they are the very first Italian company to receive a Good Dairy Commendation.

Today the whole chain is managed by one big family, which has been handing down the passion and knowledge of animals for three generations, in order to produce Parmigiano Reggiano. Recently the 60th anniversary of the dairy was celebrated with the inauguration of a new factory, capable of producing 100 wheels per day and with a maturing warehouse that contains up to 47,000 wheels.
